Stress is known as sahasa in Ayurveda. Stress is related to the balance of three vital energies or doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Our lifestyle habits determine how harmoniously these doshas function. It is important to maintain a balance of the three doshas, particularly in the face of everyday stresses.

Stress and its related problems like fatigue and strain develop when we fail to maintain a balance between Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. But maintaining harmony between these doshas is not very difficult.

When we experience extreme stress, the Vata dosha goes out of balance. When Vata gets disturbed, you tend to become restless mentally and physically. To rebalance Vata, it means to stop the erratic movement and to channel the energy more effectively.

When under stress, a Pitta person usually becomes angry, and shows obsessive behaviour. He would want everything to be just right as per his will. So it is important for the Pitta person to calm down and relax. As Pitta is made of fire, the element will make a Pitta person stressful. So, the idea is to undertake some stress-release practices to reduce the fire and become calm.

A Kapha person processes stress differently from a Vata or Pitta type. The Kapha person takes on his stress internally. When the stress hits this person, he withdraws. As Kapha is made up of water and earth, these elements make the person sad and depressed.

While stress is not always harmful, too much stress definitely causes damage. It leads to poor health as well as a specific physical or psychological illness like infection, heart disease, or depression. Persistent and unrelenting stress often leads to anxiety and unhealthy behaviours like overeating and abuse of alcohol or drugs.

Anxiety is often accompanied by physical symptoms like twitching or trembling, muscle tension, headaches, sweating, dry mouth, difficulty in swallowing, abdominal pain, etc.

Symptom of stress

  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhoea
  • Lack of concentration
  • Sleeping problems
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Irritability (anger)

These symptoms indicate that there is an increase or imbalance in the Vata dosha. Stress causes loss of immunity, which increases the susceptibility of the body to various diseases.

Winostress capsules for stress, strain, and fatigue

Winostress capsules, manufactured by Baidyanath, are an Ayurvedic proprietary medicine that helps to combat fatigue, stress and strain. This anti-stress medicine consists of adaptogens (non-toxic plants), and with immunomodulatory properties (an agent that modifies the immune response or the functioning of the immune system), it is effective in controlling stress and its related problems.

Ingredients of Winostress capsules

Each Winostress capsule contains a semi-solid concentrated extract of herbs such as Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera), Bramhi (Bacopa Monnieri), and Jatamansi (Nardostaychys Jatamansi).

Ashwagandha has stress-lowering effects. This medicinal herb helps to lower levels of cortisol, a hormone that is produced by our adrenal glands in response to stress.

Brahmi also reduces stress and anxiety as it decreases the levels of cortisol, which is known as the stress hormone.

Jatamansi is known for its antioxidant activity and significantly reverses the stress-induced elevation of lipid peroxidation and nitric oxide levels, decreasing the catalase activities in the brain. Jatamansi possesses significant anti-stress activity, which may be due to its antioxidant properties. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can defend against oxidative stress and have a protective effect on our health. Jatamansi is known to calm the mind and nerves and has the efficacy to relieve stress related to menopause. It also relieves muscle ache and cramps related to stress.
